Our reward: happy clients and game day footballs
Himle Rapp & Co. does not enter PR industry award competitions unless our clients ask us to submit an entry for our work on their behalf and we’re proud to say we win more of these than not. We take seriously the view that the most meaningful award for us is when clients of the firm recommend us to others.
Having said that, it is nice to occasionally get a pat on the back and we were pleasantly surprised to be presented actual game footballs from the Minnesota Vikings recognizing our role in helping secure public support and legislative passage in May of the new Vikings stadium. In addition to providing communications support to the Vikings lobbying team, we worked with the Vikings to recruit grassroots supporters and help mobilize fans throughout the state to make their voices heard.
While many political observers opined that a vote in favor of a new Vikings stadium in an election year would be tantamount to political suicide, almost all were taken aback by the intense outpouring of public phone calls and emails at the end of the legislative session urging lawmakers to support the new stadium. Grassroots support from fans was a true game changer.
When it came to the Vikings stadium this year, you saw the biggest turnout of fans for a stadium legislative hearing in history. Vikings fans took over and put the pressure on members of the Legislature — one said his calls were 10-to-1 for the stadium. The appearance of so many Vikings fans at the Capitol had a big influence. — Sid Hartman, Star Tribune
We’re honored to have played a supporting role in helping resolve one of the most contentious public policy debates of the last decade. We look forward to the opening kick-off in the new, state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium in 2016!
